Tatsuno

This past Sunday we had took a day trip to Tatsuno, the city to the west of Himeji. It was a nice little excursion – just 45 minutes away. A Japanese friend drove us there and showed us around town. First we met up with some people at the community center who were collecting bugs (some sort of outdoor education program).
Then, unexpectedly, we went to the Tatsuno castle which, although much smaller than Himeji castle, was really nice and even had raked pebble garden (is it just me, or do you all expect all Japanese gardens to have raked pebbles!?).
Tatsuno’s main claim to fame is the soy sauce factory there, so we also visited the museum which showed how soy sauce was made before modernization.

Nice to see you're getting out Sara. Can you get some close ups of the joints in the woodwork? The Japanese temple builders were/are some of the best woodworkers in the world.

Miss you'
